Giampaolo Pazzini![]() ![]() Giampaolo Pazzini He is an Italian football player. He plays as a striker. Giampaolo Pazzini (born August 2, 1984 in Pescia) is an Italian football (soccer) player, who currently plays for Fiorentina, having been transferred there from Atalanta in January 2005, with Valeri Bojinov from U.S. Lecce. He is a direct, powerful centre-forward who poses a significant threat in the air and also boasts a powerful shot. The striker is considered a natural replacement for FC Bayern Munich-bound Luca Toni by coach Cesare Prandelli. Giampaolo Pazzini's high point of the 2005/2006 season was his spectacular equalising header against Juventus. Pazzini also struck a wonderfully powerful shot beating Juventus keeper, Gianluigi Buffon, to cap a traditional Italian counter attack, in the 2004/2005 season. Pazzini is currently a member of the Italy Under-21 team. Pazzini was the star of the first ever professional match at the new Wembley Stadium in a game against England Under-21 on 24 March 2007. The Fiorentina forward set three records in the 3-3 draw; he scored the first goal at the new Wembley Stadium after just 28 seconds (and thus the fastest ever goal to be scored at Wembley, in both its old and new incarnations), and then went on to score the first ever hat-trick at the new Wembley, after 68 minutes. Pazzini recently signed a new contract with Fiorentina and is thought to be highly rated by staff and players alike.
