David Wheater  David Wheater He is an English football player. He plays as a defender. David Wheater (born February 14, 1987) is an English footballer, currently playing for Middlesbrough, having recently returned from loan at Darlington. He is a central defender. He had a brief but fruitful loan spell at League One side Doncaster Rovers from January to April 2006. By the end of the 2005 - 2006 season, he had played 6 games for Middlesbrough, had not scored, but had not been booked either. He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a three month loan in September 2006. However he returned to Middlesbrough on 15 November after making just one first team appearance. This was due to the fact that the loan was supposed to provide the young defender with valuable experience, but given he wasn't playing first team football he wasn't achieving this, and so Wolves sent him back. On May 12th 2007 David scored his first goal for Middlesbrough in his first game of the season against Fulham. He scored again in the match against Birmingham on September 1, 2007.
